Does capitalism have a future? If we value our liberty, creative innovation, increased standards of living and reduced poverty, then it must as there is no other effective way to deliver these good outcomes. But what sort of economy and what sort of society? A market-based economy is only effective if it is built upon sound ethical character and principles and if the widest range of people can share in the benefits. Greed and financial scandals are a stain upon a moral market economy. We welcome Sacha Romanovitch, who leads one of the leading professional services firms, Grant Thornton, to reflect on how they encourage a vibrant, yet inclusive economy, together with Andrew Bailey who will help us think through how the city can be more ethical.
